Left Hand Remote Control Switch #1

With manual operation lever. It has the black
rails made only in 1946. Two of the rail pins are of the
standard type; the sharp pointed ones that came with these
switches are no longer available. A peculiarity of these
switches is that the rail pins have a bit of vertical play;
when you connect a piece of track to it, you need to make sure
the top of the track rail is level with the top of the switch
rail; if you don’t, engines that use a pick up shoe
(e.g., Alco and Baldwin diesels, and certain steam locomotives)
will bump hard at that spot. I replaced the bulb and the
missing color cylinder/shutter. A jumper wire has been soldered
in around the 2-train/Regular operations switch to make it
Regular operation only. My Hudson steam locomotive hits
something solid when it enters from the red branch, but it’s
OK entering the green branch. Manual operation works fine, but
remote operation, as with many of these early switches,
sometimes switches only halfway and gets stuck there, unable to
move either direction, until you manually move it the rest of
the way. Body is dirty, but rails are clean and nice. C-6
cosmetically.

Right Hand Remote Control Switch #1
