O Scale Sets For Sale
(last updated November 29, 2023)

I am selling a number of O Scale items from people who contacted me for help selling their collections.

For reference purposes, I show an estimated book value for each item, adjusted for condition. On items made by Lionel, I show Greenberg book values. These should not be interpreted as firm, fixed asking prices. Make me an offer I can't refuse!

If you are interested in buying an item shown here, email me: theupstairstrain@gmail.com. Please include your mailing address so I can calculate shipping charges and send you an invoice with the total.

Submit payment by ZellePay, bank check, or personal check. Don't waste your money on a money order or cashier's check.

Shipping cost will be actual cost via Priority Mail, and I will happily ship items together to minimize shipping costs. I ship everything insured unless you accept full liability for loss or damage in shipment.

Pictures of the other sides, top, and bottom are available on request.

Because there are so many O Scale items involved, I am splitting the list up onto five web pages:

  • Engines, work train cars, and freight cars; click here

  • Buildings, towers, bridges, trestles, and other accessories; click here
  • Track, switches, activation tracks, lockons, and other track-related items; click here
  • Transformers, books, magazines, catalogs, parts & supplies, and other stuff; click here
  • Train sets are on this page; scroll down

Hoge 900 U. S. Mail Set. If you're not looking for flaws, this is a gorgeous, shiny chrome and blue set; when I first saw it, I thought it was brand new. Upon closer inspection, however, there are quite a few flaws in the chrome finish. I have to call it C-6 condition.

I cleaned the commutator, lubricated all shaft bearings, and it runs great, fast, slow, and in between.

On November 18, 2023, a set in similar condition sold for $450 at Stout Auctions, but Stout made no statement as to whether or not the engine runs. On that basis, I'm putting an estimated value of $500 on it. The price tag in the picture says $400 because I took the picture before I got the engine running and learned of the Stout Auction. Set of three Lionel prewar passenger cars, numbers 2613, 2614, and 2615. Overall, each is a gorgeous car with only a couple of tiny spots on the sides and a line of discoloration on the roof where the dark blue center piece is attached. The paint retains its original lustre. The lights work in all cars. Both uncouplers work on the Pullman and baggage car, but the one on the observation car is flaky. Each comes in its origianl box which protects the car well, but it can fall out an end. All but one of end flaps are present, though three are loose. A couple of side flaps are missing and a couple are missing; a few are intact. It looks like the boxes got wet, but they're not damaged. Greenberg book value adjusted for condition is $750 for the three cars; I don't know how to value the boxes but I imagine they're worth another $75 at least. (SDSG)

Marx M10000 engine and four passenger cars; green and yellow with red stripes; motor doesn't respond; dirty and lots of surface rust. Includes 12 curved track and 8 straight track. Asking $50.00. (SDSG)
